At the ML2 Lab we believe that many sources of information—both linguistic and non-linguistic—are involved in language processing and language acquisition. At the ML2 Lab, we investigate how these different sources of information are integrated and processed during language communication.
Some of the questions we ask are:
- Are there differences in how we use and learn a spoken versus a signed language?
- How does non-language input such as gesture and eye gaze influence language learning and understanding?
- What does it mean to be a bilingual? Either knowing two spoken languages or a signed and spoken language?
- How does language interact with perception and action systems?
